Commercial Pool Heater Installation In San Diego With ASME Raypak
For this commercial pool heater installation, we were contacted by a large hotel in San Diego. It was mid-summer when they were at their highest occupancy and they needed the pool heater repaired and working. When it comes to commercial swimming pools during a San Diego summer, they need to be working. As with most commercial swimming pools, they are always heated during the peak months for the guests enjoyment. Most of the time regardless of the seasons, commercial pools and spas are always being heated. Due to the swimming pool and spa being such a big draw to hotel guests, keeping the equipment up and running is a priority.
Commercial Facility Ended Up Needing More Than A New Pool Heater
When we arrived at this commercial facility which was in downtown San Diego, we found other concerns. We identified multiple issues with pool pumps that were leaking and a few that were not running at all. Along with that, they were having issues with their pool filtering. This commercial pool and spa have sand filters that look to have had no maintenance in a long time. Upon looking into the commercial pool heater repair we also noticed more than one pool heater with issues. The one pool heater we were called out on was a priority as it was not working at all. Upon walking the equipment room we found a pool heater and one spa heater leaking.
Thes types of issues are not uncommon at all due to the facility engineers during the summer are buried with work. To keep everything focused on the job that we were called out for, our technician started to diagnosis the commercial pool heater. What he found was extensive damage to the heat exchanger and a lot of rust on the burner tray. With this extent of damage, we explained that it would not be worth repairing this specific commercial pool heater. It’s not that most heater repairs are possible but, there are times it is not worth the expense. This is also a factor when repairing a commercial pool heater, that it might encounter another issue causing down time.
Commercial Pool Heater Installed And Breakdown For What Else Is Needed
Because it was a time sensitive pool heater job, we sent the estimate and were asked to get it done ASAP. As we have multiple supply houses to get the necessary materials, we were able to schedule for the same day. We went with a commercial pool heater which was a Raypak ASME pool heater. The existing pool heater was also a Raypak which makes the installation a bit more cut and dry. Raypak pool heaters are a very good pool heater and we will usually recommend for most commercial facilities. We recommend Raypak for commercial pool heater installations as they hold up well to heavy use. That and commercial facilities have the space required to fit these full sized pool heaters. Due to it being a commercial pool heater, we also needed to re-install the venting. Another reason we went with the Raypak so that we did not have to install all new venting. This would have significantly raised the overall cost.

This work order write up was to inform the commercial facility about the other repairs that need to be made. This repair write up consisted of multiple commercial pool repair issues. Upgrade single speed pumps to variable speed options. Quote to clean three sand filters and change out the laterals were also needed. The last thing was to send additional quotes to repair or replace the other commercial pool heaters.
