Our office received a phone call from a San Diego homeowner with an inground plaster spa. We were told that the hot tub circulation pump was no longer working. After scheduling a service call our pool repair technician headed out to the Point Loma home to look at the spa equipment. On arrival it was apparent that the Pentair whisperflo circulation pump motor was not working. When we attempted to turn on the pump the motor made a humming sound and the breaker was immediately tripped. The pump motor bearings were seized up not allowing the motor to spin. We notified the homeowner that the pool pump motor needed to be replaced,
The customer had given us the pump information prior to the service call which allowed us to pick up the proper parts needed for the whisperflo pool pump repair. The old .5 hp pump motor was removed and a new energy efficient pump motor was installed. A new pump impeller, shaft seal, seal plate gasket and diffuser o-ring were installed. The old pump diffuser was in good condition and was reused. Once put back together the power to the hot tub circulation pump was turned back on. The pump timer was reset and the heater was tested. Everything worked properly and the spa was brought back to normal operations.
