While performing our weekly pool maintenance service on a small pool (spool) in the Poway, 92064 area of San Diego County we noticed a loud noise coming from the circulation pump. The WFE-2 whisperflo .5 horsepower pump motor needed to be replaced. The pump repair took less than an hour to complete. Some of the internal wet end parts were able to be reused. Able to be reinstalled were the impeller and the diffuser. After removing the .5 hp motor we installed the new .5 hp high efficiency pump motor with a capacity of .95 to meet California Title 20 standards in San Diego. By multiplying the hp by the service factor of the motor we were able to simply replace the pool motor. If the capacity would have been greater than one we would have replaced the pump with either a 2 speed or variable speed pump. The homeowner was glad to have a quiet running pump again as the neighbors probably were as well.
