A pool owner from the Carmel Valley, 92130 area of San Diego got in touch with us about a problem with their swimming pool filter. The homeowner was noticing debris and dirt blowing into the pool. We quickly scheduled a service call to inspect the failing pool filter. During the inspection of the Pentair FNS Plus 60 diatomaceous earth pool filter we noticed d.e. blowing into the pool through the returns. We also noticed water leaking from the bottom of the pentair push/pull backwash valve. After removing the lid and looking at the filter grids we noticed many tears in the grids. We then pulled the backwash valve piston and found broken o-rings. To repair the pool filter we installed a new full set of grids along with a new stem o-ring and lid o-ring.
Repairing the leaking backwash valve involved replacing the piston assembly along with all three piston o-rings, making sure to lube up the o-rings. The pool filter was then recharged with new d.e. and the circulation pump was scheduled to run at its normal time. The homeowner as pleased with our filter repair and asked us to supply weekly pool service.
